Infusio Darrowi
A standard isoosmotic electrolyte i.v. solution with a higher potassium and lactate content.
Lactates are metabolized to bicarbonates in the body and thus the administration of the solution
has a mild alkalizing effect. The lactate contributes to an energy balance. The solution is used
for replacing body fluid losses in patients with hypokalaemia and acidosis or an tendency to
acidosis.

Infusio Hartmanni
A standard practically isoosmotic i.v. solution containing basal cations and lactate. Due to a
balanced ratio of chloride and lactate anions, the latter of which changes to bicarbonates in
the body, the administration of the solution does not virtually affect the acid-base balance
having only a mild alkalizing effect.
The lactate is an energy source unless the function of liver is impaired.
