Both the glucose solutions (5%, 10%) are designed to replace losses of body water and as the carrier IV solutions for a number of additives and other medications

Infusio Ringeri
A standard isoosmotic i.v. solution, which has a mildly acidifying effect upon administration. It is
designed to replace water and electrolyte deficit in the case of an increased sodium loss and
vasodilation hypovolemia. The ionic balance depends on the kidney excretion of individual ions
and is subject to the mineralcorticoid regulation. Water homeostasis is stimulated by the
antidiuretic hormone.
